Dominic “Mim” A. DeRenzo, 93

Surrounded by his loving family, Dominic “Mim” A. DeRenzo, 93, husband of Ruthann (Kimble) DeRenzo, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Birdsboro, PA, he was the son of the late Henry and Esther (Giampalo) DeRenzo.

Dominic proudly served in the United States Navy. He was stationed aboard the aircraft carrier, U.S.S. Point Cruz off the coast of Korea during the Korean War. Dominic was the longtime Chef/Kitchen and Banquet Manager at Sunnybrook Ballroom in Pottstown. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church. Dominic spent many hours cooking for various church events. Mim was also a longtime member of Stichter Masonic Lodge #254. Much of his joy during retirement rose from traveling with his wife, Ruthann, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Surviving along with his wife Ruthann, are his sons David DeRenzo, husband of Beth Anne; Gary DeRenzo, husband of Ginger; and Thomas DeRenzo, husband of Lisa; and grandchildren Alexandria, Nicholas, Abbey, Joseph, Ryan, Benjamin, and Emily. Mim is predeceased by brothers Tony (Ida); Pompeo (Hildegard); and sister Theresa (William) and several nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Saturday, May 18, 2024, from 9:00 -11:30 AM with a memorial service immediately following at 11:30 AM. A private burial will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dominic’s name to First Presbyterian Church (750 North Evans Street, Pottstown, PA) or to the Coatesville Veterans Administration (1400 Blackhorse Hill Road, Coatesville, PA 19320.)

Mr. DeRenzo, thank you for being my buddy. I loved spending time with you at Church, helping you in the kitchen during the holidays to prepare breakfast, and just chatting. You remind me so much of my grandfather. I am honored to have known you and grateful that you were a part of my life at First Presbyterian Church. Prayers to your family!
