Albert William “Bill” Gardner III, 74, of Pottstown, Limerick Twp., formerly of Oaks, husband of Charlotte E. (Wade) Gardner, passed away suddenly on Friday, June 14 at Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Albert W. Jr. and Frances (Lee) Gardner.

Bill was a US Navy veteran and an active member of the Vietnam Vets Chapter 436 in Coatesville and a member of the American Legion #602 in Spring City. He was Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 113 in Trappe for 30 years. Bill most recently worked for Custers’s Garage as a school van driver for Spring-Ford School District for 4 years. Previously he worked for Teleflex for 10 years, retiring in 2011. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and enjoyed taking them to the Spring City Veteran Center to run bingo for the veterans. He was also a railroad enthusiast.

Surviving with his wife are children Wade T. Gardner, husband of Jill, Dawn E. Matthews, wife of Michael, and Kyle J. Gardner, significant other of Emily; sister Carol Griffith; brother Robert Lee Gardner, husband of Darlene; and grandchildren Michael, Thomas, Jason and Logan. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother in law Loren Griffith.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 20th with a calling at 10am and a service following at 11am located at New Hanover United Methodist Church, 2211 Swamp Pike, Gilbertsville.
