Carl E. Conrad, 92, of Boyertown, husband of the late Frances V. (Rhoads) Conrad, passed away on Thursday at Chestnut Knoll Nursing Home.

Born in Stonersville, he was the son of the late Harvey and Jennie (Hoffman) Conrad.

Carl was a WWII Navy veteran who served proudly on the USS Mobile. He was the owner of the “Carl E. Conrad General Store” in Greshville for over 25 years. He was a member of the Boyertown American Legion and a member of the United Grocers Association.  Carl enjoyed woodworking and building clocks. He also collected and rebuilt old Victrola Record players.

Surviving is son Rodney Conrad, husband of Brenda, of Millerstown; daughters Ellen Fronheiser, wife of George, of New Berlinville and Gloria Gilbert, companion of Merlyn Mutter, of New Hanover; brother Edward Conrad, husband of Edie, of Lobachsville; sister Pearl Schaeffer of Greshville; grandchildren Michael, Jeff, Lori, Beth, Keith, Nadine, Jodie, Brian, Greg, Lisa and Randy; 21 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his brother Robert, 2 sisters and half-brother Ralph Hartline.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 1020 E. Phila. Ave., Gilberstville with Rev. Donald B. Eisenhauer officiating. Burial will follow in Hill Church Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 10:00AM to 10:45AM at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made in Carl’s name to Boyertown Senior Center at Spring Street, 301 W. Spring Street, Boyertown, PA 19512.
