Carl W. Cleaver, 87, a lifelong resident of Boyertown, passed away Friday, January 20. He spent his final years enjoying life at Country Meadows, Mechanicsburg. His final days were spent being treated with care and compassion at the Carolyn Croxton Slane Hospice Residence, Harrisburg PA.
He was the loving husband of the late Mary (Sayshen) his wife of 50 years.
Born in New Berlinville, he was the son of the late Eden Cleaver and Annie (Weller) Eddinger. He was a 1942 graduate of Boyertown High School.
Carl, a Marine, served in the Pacific during WWII. He later became the Vice President of Kutztown Shoe.
He was a longtime member of St. Columbkill Roman Catholic Church in Boyertown and the Knights of Columbus. He was a lifetime member of the Friendship Hook & Ladder Co., Boyertown.
Carl served as a member of the Boyertown Planning Commission. He was a devoted fan of the Boyertown Bears American Legion Baseball team and the Philadelphia Phillies.
Surviving is a son Andrew C. Cleaver, husband of Fran , Camp Hill; daughter Pamela A., wife of John Finnerty of Basking Ridge, NJ; grandchildren Patrick A. Cleaver of Arlington, Va., and Maureen S. Cleaver of Wormleysburg. Carl was predeceased by his brother Gerald Eddinger.
