Charlotte N. (Nuttall) Griggs, 81, of Shannondell of Valley Forge, formerly of Chester Springs and Phoenixville, wife of the late Paul D. Griggs, passed away on Thursday, June 14, 2018 at Einstein Montgomery Medical Center.

Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Edith (Smith) Nuttall.
In the early 1980s Charlotte worked as a secretary for her husband Paul’s business, Davlyn Manufacturing Co. of Spring City, Pa. In 1991, Charlotte returned to complete her undergraduate studies, which were begun at Millersville State Teachers College in the 1950s, by earning a degree in History at West Chester University.

Charlotte was a recent member of Washington Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, where she was a member of the altar guild and a former member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Glenmoore. She was also a member of National Society of the Colonial Dames of America and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Charlotte was a volunteer for the Yellow Springs and Chester County Library, The Clinic in Phoenixville and was a new resident ambassador at Shannondell of Valley Forge. She enjoyed painting, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren, family, and many friends.

Surviving is son Jason Griggs, husband of Tammy, of Limerick; sister Carol Simpson; grandchildren Jenna, Allison and Evan Griggs; nephew Tom Simpson and niece Deb Caniglia. Along with her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother-in-law, Alfred Simpson.

A memorial service will be Saturday, June 30, 2018, 11:00AM at Washington Memorial Chapel, RR 23, Valley Forge, PA 19481, with visitation from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. The family will also receive guests at a luncheon immediately following the service at the Chapel.
