Betty Lou Shannon, 91, wife of the late Thomas F. Shannon III, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Providence Place.
Born in Linfield, PA, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Elizabeth (Stepka) Trinley.
Betty enjoyed quilting, being a eucharistic minister at various churches throughout her life, and a “free spirit that loved God’s creation.” She also worked as a clerk at the Lower Merion Police Department for several years, she worked at the district court for some time, and also at Superior Tube, where she met the love of her life, Thomas. Betty loved to teach Sunday School at St. Coleman’s. But most of all, she loved the time spent with her family.
Surviving Betty are her children, Michele Gallagher, wife of Fran; Tom Shannon IV; Mark Shannon, husband of Susan; Kathy Sonnad; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild due in July '25; sister Janet Schultze; sister-in-law Louise Trinley, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband Thomas, Betty was predeceased by her daughter Jane Shannon, brother Ronald Trinley; sister-in-law’s Patricia Loftus and Eileen Medlock; brother-in-law’s Russell Medlock, James Loftus, and Carl Schultze.
A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at Saint Margaret of Antioch Parish (208 N. Narberth Ave, Narberth, PA 19072) followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 AM. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery of West Conshohocken following mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to a local ASPCA of your choice.
