Stanley E. "Butch" Brown, Jr, 69

Stanley E. "Butch" Brown, Jr, age 69, husband of Deborah A. Brown (Shaughnessy) of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on Friday April 17, 2026 at Reading Hospital surrounded by family and loved ones. Born in Bloomsburg, PA, he was the son of the late Stanley E. and Ellen Mae (Miller) Brown.

Butch was a graduate of Springford High School where he studies car mechanics at the vo-tech center. From there, he worked at PENCO Products in Oaks, PA for 20+ years before the plant shut down. He then attended Berks Career Center to obtain a CDL and became a commercial truck driver. Butch drove big rigs for a few trucking companies before settling in with J.B. Hunt, where he became a member of The Million Mile Club before retiring.

Throughout his life, Butch was heavily involved in his children's activities from scouts to coaching various sports. He was the ultimate Philly sports fan, rarely missing a game on tv and always knowing scores and statistics. He cherished his time spent outdoors fishing, camping and at the shore with his family and friends. He and his wife enjoyed dinners out, going to the movie theater, going on cruises, bowling, gardening together and playing with their family dog. When he wasn't spending time with family and friends, he was actively restoring old cars and always loved attending a hot summer car show. They were active members of Connection Church of Pottstown, PA and looked forward to services every Sunday. He loved spending time with his grandchildren - dressing up for themed birthday parties, playing games, and swimming. He would let his Granddaughters cut his beard and paint his fingernails and he could be found watching Transformers with his grandson and a giant bag of popcorn. Butch was an active participant in fundraising events for Helping Hands, Inc. - you could always find him at the Pancake Breakfast or playing Bingo. Many people in the organization knew him from his efforts with "handyman" work at the residential homes. Butch was always someone you could count on for anything and he loved his family and friends with his whole heart.

Butch is survived by his children, Lisa Brown, partner of Sarah Benson, Colleen Hendricks, wife of Cary, and Ryan Brown, husband of Sarah. He was preceded in death by his son, Shaun Brown, husband of Janet. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Candace Hendricks, Norah Brown and Leland Benson-Parks, along with many nieces and nephews. He is survived by two brothers and a sister, and preceded in death by one sister.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service in the Chapel at the Limerick Garden of Memories, 44 E Arcadia Drive, Limerick, PA 19468 on Friday April 24, 2026 at 11 AM. Officiating will be Pastor Andrew VanCott of Connection Church in Pottstown, PA. Burial will be at Limerick Garden of Memories. Friends and other family members will be received from 9:30 AM - 11 AM, also in the chapel at the Limerick Garden of Memories. Arrangements are being handled by Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

I am so sorry for your loss. Our family is thinking of all of you and praying you get through this difficult time. Your dad was a wonderful man. I will always remember all the games he came to cheer us on between soccer and basketball! If anyone needs anything other than prayers, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm sending love, hugs, and a listening ear if you just want to talk. I miss all of you dearly. Love Crystal and the Hoffmaster family.
