Virginia “Ginny” R. (Mathias) Angstadt, 88, wife of William David Angstadt, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 31, 2026 at her home in Gilbertsville.
Born in Douglass Township, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Annie Mathias.
Ginny’s loving and generous spirit was known by everyone she loved and called friend. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels for many years, and was a member of the Bally Senior Center, making many new friends in the process. She was very social and enjoyed going places with her friends, including lunch, dinner shows and summer outdoor venues with live music.
Most of all, Ginny loved and adored her grandchildren. Spending time with them was one of her most favorite activities.
Surviving along with her husband, William of 69 years, are her children Lisa Hollenbach, Jeffrey Angstadt, husband of Cecilia, and Colin Angstadt, husband of Elise; sister Dorothy “Dot” Schoenly, wife of the late Paul; brother Paul “Pete” Mathias; grandchildren Stephanie Hollenbach, Andrew Hollenbach, Alexia Angstadt, and Maximus Angstadt; great grandchildren Nolan Smith and Tessa Smith; and her beloved cat Nova. She is predeceased by her daughter Kelly Angstadt and siblings Robert, Leroy Lawrence and Grace.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 at 11:00AM at Catagnus Funeral Home (1020 E. Philadelphia Ave, Gilbertsville, PA 19525) with Pastor Donna House officiating. Burial will follow at Christ Lutheran Niantic Church Cemetery. Visitation will also be held on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 10:00AM-11:00AM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center or Macular Degeneration Research in Virginia’s name.
