Edmond E. “Reds” Gallino, 91, husband of Florence W. (Krause), of Frederick Mennonite Community, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2009.

Born and raised in Allentown, he was the son of the late Frederick and Matilda Gallino. He graduated from Allentown Allen High School and attened Texas A & M University.

Surviving with his wife is their son Dennis G. Gallino, husband of Linda, of North Coventry; 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by a son David Alan Gallino.

Edmond was a member of ST. James Lutheran Church in Pottstown and Pottstown Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. #814 and the Boyertown American Legion Chargles B. Yerger Post #471 for over 60 years. He was a decorated WWII Army Veteran earning a Purple Heart, Silver Star and a Bronze Star. Edmond enjoyed golf, bowling, and all sports, and was a fast pitch softball pitcher in the Pottstown Industrial League. He was the general manager for 35 years at the former Pottstown Medal Welding Company in Pottstown and was the owner and operator of the former Merchant’s Hotel in Pottstown.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 10:30AM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown. Burial will follow in Niantic Union Cemetery, Niantic. Friends may call on Saturday, May 30, from 9:30AM to 10:15 AM at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edmond’s name to St. James Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 1101 E. High Street, Pottstown, PA 19464.
