Francis J. Carter, 80, husband of 45 years to Ruth S. (Mitchell) Carter of Elverson, passed away on Friday at Manatawny Manor in Pottstown. Born in Saint Albans, Vermont, he was a son of the late Mary A. (Mc Lea) Carter and the late Earl L. Carter.
He was a United States Army Veteran of both the Korean and Vietnam Wars who after being honorably discharged from the military had worked for many years as a security guard in the industrial field, and also most recently at the Weis Supermarket in Pottstown prior to his illness. He was also a member of the Bethesda Baptist Church of Pottstown for over 20 years.
In addition to his wife he is also survived by his sons; Eric Carter, of Elverson, Philip Carter (husband of Cheryl) of Parker Ford, his sister; Jane Carter, of Venice, FL., his grandchildren; Joseph, Jessica, Amanda, and many other loving relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Thursday, starting at 10:30 AM at Bethesda Baptist Church, 2140 Harmonyville Road, Pottstown, Pa., 19465, and to his Visitation on Thursday morning from 9:30-10:15 AM at the church. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown. Memorial contributions in his name can be made to Manatawny Manor, 30 Old Schuylkill Road, Pottstown, Pa., 19465.
