This is the story of Harold Edward Fillman. A wonderful man that was loved and forever cherished. He was an amazing husband, father, and Pop-pop that stood strong as an oak tree through life’s storms. Harold’s story started on March 19, 1932 in Pottstown, Pa, the second of four children of Chester and Edna Fillman. Harold loved to play basketball and baseball with “the guys” in the alley behind his home on Chestnut St. He attended Pottstown High School and graduated in 1949. After graduation, he joined the Army and served in Europe. He met the love of his life, Diane, and they were married in 1960. He started working as a sheet metal designer for Palladino Brothers and later began his life-long career as an electrical draftsman. His impeccable work ethic, devotion to family, and passion for God and church were second to none.
Harold and Diane had three children – Dennis (husband to Michele), Donald, and Brenda Robison. They have four grandchildren – Joshua Robison (husband to Mary), Hannah Robison, Zachary Fillman, and Abigail Fillman. His passion for skiing and travel were evident in the countless photographs he took and the stories he told of his adventures.
Harold fought the good fight and passed to eternal glory on June 30, 2018. A memorial service will be held in his honor Friday, July 6, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Hopewell Community Church in Pottstown. A viewing will precede the service from 11:00 am to 1:00, with food and fellowship after the service. A private burial with family and friends will be held at Limerick Garden of Memories on Saturday morning July 7, 2018. At Harold’s request, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hopewell Community Church (hopewellcommunitychurch.org)
