James O. Mauger, Sr. “Moxie”, 91, husband of the late Birdella (Batdorf) Mauger, passed away Sunday, October 7, 2018 at Reading Hospital.
Born in Kenilworth, James was the son of the late John and Blanche (Fulmer) Mauger.
James was a lifetime member of Norco, Amity, and Upper Salford Fire Departments, and was the past fire chief of Norco Fire Department. James was the Boy Scout advisor and safety merit badge counselor for Troop 95 Cedarville. He enjoyed tinkering, inventing, and fabricating; taking things apart and putting them back together. He was an avid sports and racing fan. James will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather. James enjoyed farming as a young man and worked for many years at Cryochem metal fabrication shop in Boyertown, Pa. And in his free time, James always enjoyed putting puzzles together.
Surviving are sons James Mauger, Jr., husband of Melanie, son Jack Mauger, husband of Kathy; daughters Cheryl Levengood, wife of Daniel, and daughter Della Tevis, wife of Mark; brother Thomas Mauger, husband of Shirley; 5 Grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter Sandra Mauger, 1 sister, and 2 brothers.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 12, 2018 at 2:30 P.M. at Catagnus Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, PA 19464, with Rev. Joseph Dietz officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Parkerford. Visitation will be held from 1:30-2:15 P.M. at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Della Tevis, 324 Owens Place, Birdsboro, PA 19508, to help defray funeral expenses.
