James S. Straub, 96, husband of the late Carol S. (Strode) Straub, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8 at Frederick Living.
Born in Frackville, he was the son of the late Earl D. and Addie (Swoyer) Straub.
Jim was a World War II US Army Veteran and retired as a Captain from the Naval Reserves after 32 years of service. He received his Masters Degree in German from Middlebury College in Vermont and went on to a career as a civilian in Naval Intelligence. He enjoyed music of all kinds, with opera being one of his favorites, was an avid Philadelphia Sports fan and loved animals, especially his Siamese cats.
Surviving is son Karl Straub, husband of Desi; daughter Karen Straub; grandchildren Kristin Wallace, wife of Bobby Sutton, Christopher J. Straub-Wallace, husband of Mackenzie, Kelli Straub, and Kimberly Straub; and great grandchildren Emily, Sophia, and Landon Wallace-Sutton and Taylor and Ryan Straub-Wallace. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his sister Virginia Willier and grandson Kyle Straub.
Services and interment are private and at the convenience of the family.
