Joseph P. “Sandy” Doman Sr., 75, of Pottstown, Lower Pottsgrove Twp.., formerly of Philadelphia, husband of Janet D. (Karcher) Doman, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 1, 2019 at Phoenixville Hospital.

Born in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Edward and Doris (Jaeckle) Doman.

After High School Joe joined the United States Army and served 6 years in Korea and Germany, upon returning home he became a Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer. He retired after receiving a service-related injury.
During his time as a Police officer he met a young nursing student who would later become his loving wife, and best friend, of 50+ years.
Joe graduated from Goldey-Beacom College with an Associate’s degree in business management. He worked many years for the former Nottle’s Auto Parts in Pottstown as the Vice President and General Manager and later as an outside salesperson for Atlantic Power. After “Retirement”, he drove school bus for several years.
Joe was a member of St. James Lutheran Church in Limerick and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Pottstown. He loved attending and cheering on the Philadelphia sports teams and The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team. He was a Reading Phillies, Phillies and Eagles season ticket holder for many years. Joe was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, travelling and spending time in Wildwood at the “Shore House”. He also loved spending time with his Grandchildren and Grand dogs.

Surviving with his wife are children Joseph P. Doman Jr., husband of Nadine, Philip J. Doman, husband of Roisin M., Tracey E. Miller, wife of Matthew C.; sibling Doris Lynch, George Doman, and Karin Avelis; grandchildren Odhran, Jacob, Grace, Maria, and Liam. Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Clayton James Doman and Alex Doman.

A Funeral Service will be Monday, Sept. 9, 11:00AM at St. James Lutheran Church, 93 Kugler Road, Limerick. Burial will follow in Limerick Garden of Memories. Visitation will be Sunday, Sept. 8 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Ltd., 329 N. Lewis Road, Royersford and on Monday, Sept. 9 from 10:00AM to 10:45AM at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s name to the charity of your choice.
