Joseph R. “Sterk” Stercula, age 84, husband of Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Emery) Stercula, of Kenneth Ave., Spring City, Pa., died Wednesday in Phoenixville Hosptial.

Born in Spring City, he was the son of the late Joseph J. and Anna Marie (Majersky) Stercula.

Joe worked at the West Co., in Phoenixville, for 37 years, before retiring in 1986, and later worked for Plastic Supply of Pa., in Pottstown.

He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of WW II.

He was a member of the Spring City V.F.W., along with the Liberty Fire Co. in Spring City.  Joe also enjoyed the horce races for many years.

Surviving with his wife of 61 years, are two daughters; Pat Cappelletti, of Spring City, and Joanne Strait, of Boyertown.  Also surviving is a sister; Mary Gordon, of Harleysville, and five grandchildren; Beth Cappelletti, David Cappelletti, Michele Loke, Anna-Marie Wanamaker, and Joseph Stercula, along with three great grandchildren; Alexandra Loke, Andrew Loke, and Madelyn Loke.  Joe was pre-deceased by a son; Robert J. Stercula, and two son’s in law; James R. Cappelletti and Brad Strait.

Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Saturday at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 329 N. Lewis Rd., Royersford, with Pastor Ron Coulton officiating.

Entombment will be in the Limerick Garden of Memories, Good Shepherd Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:15 at the funeral home.
