Katherine (Evich) Sharon, 86, wife of the late Edward H. Sharon, formerly of Queen Street in Pottstown, passed away on Tuesday at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born on Pleasantville Road, Fagleysville, she was the daughter of the late Eva (Kaminiec) and Daniel Evich, and the step-daughter of the late Walsay Gordeychuck. Her parents were early members of Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church in Pottstown, and she attended a one room schoolhouse on Swamp Pike.

During the war she made parachutes at Quality Knit in Stowe, and she later worked at In-Alin dress factory at Walnut & York Streets. After the factory closed, she worked in the receiving department of Bradlees Department Store. Katherine loved Polish music, and she made a trip to Poland to visit members of her family. She spoke five languages and enjoyed speaking them. Katherine also enjoyed cooking Polish foods, canning, and baking. She was one of the original members of the Johnny Haas Polka Dance Club, and she also enjoyed cats.

Katherine is survived by a son; William D. Sharon, of Pottstown, a daughter; Mary Ann Elliott ,wife of Dennis C. Elliott of Upper Pottsgrove, a granddaughter; Kimberly Acido ,wife of James of Boyertown, a great-grandson; Ethan E. Acito, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her daughter; Elaine Kay Sharon, and her sister; Anna Fiala.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Friday, at 2:00 PM at Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 711 N. Franklin Street, Pottstown, Pa., 19464, and to her Visitation on Friday afternoon from 1:00-1:45 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Park, Pottstown. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made in Katherine’s name to the Holy Trinity Russian Orthodox Church, Mervine & Juniper Streets, Pottstown, Pa., 19464.
