Kathi Seaman Lurie, Pottstown, PA, began her journey with God on July 31, 2012 at home surrounded with love by her family.  Kathi, 44, battled for 18 long months against aggressive breast cancer.  Though she may have “lost” that fight, Kathi’s war was won with eternal life. She is survived by her loving husband Eric, son of Michael and Linda of Hyde Park, NY, her precious daughters Alexa and Makena, her mother Betsy Brown of Poughkeepsie, NY, her father Wes and step-mother Carol Seaman of Naples, FL, her sister Riley Weston of Nashville, TN, step-sister Donna (Gary) Smith of Fayetteville, NY, step-brother David (Claudia) Evangelista of Orlando, FL and step-brother Christian Evangelista of Orange, CA.  She’s also survived by a close family of several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathi was born on December 8, 1967.  She graduated from Arlington High School serving as a class officer. She was an honor student, a member of the cheerleading team and a friend to everyone she met.  She wanted to be a teacher from a young age and graduated with honors from Caldwell College. She married her husband Eric in 1994 on a blazing hot June day. In 1998, they were blessed with the birth of Alexa and three years later blessed again with Makena. The family settled in Pottstown, PA in 2004.  Kathi was a full-time mom, Girl Scout leader, Deacon and Sunday school teacher in her beloved First Presbyterian Church of Pottstown. Kathi spent the last three years raising money for breast cancer awareness and walked in the Philadelphia Susan G. Komen Walk for the Cure.  Kathi loved watching her girls dance, throwing parties with her husband, visiting the shore, and being at camp in the Adirondacks with her family, but most of all she loved being a mom and she did it in HD!

The Lurie family will be forever grateful for the kindness, support, prayers and outpouring of love that was shown to them throughout Kathi’s “Year of the Fight”. Her radiant smile that lit up the room will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at Pottstown Presbyterian Church in Pottstown, PA on Thursday, August 16th at 11am with the family greeting visitors beginning at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to the newly established Kathi Seaman Lurie Susan G Komen Memorial Fund, which will provide financial support for future walkers who are determined to put an end to breast cancer. Donations can be sent to the fund at 1153 Wendler Circle, Pottstown, PA 19465.
