Makenna Ann Massi, 14, of North Coventry Twp., passed away Thursday September 27, 2018 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
Born in Paoli, she was the daughter of Richard M. and Michelle (Durkalec) Massi.
Makenna was an honor student at Owen J. Roberts Middle School. Makenna earned her black belt in Karate in 2017 and was also a gifted pianist. She made the Middle School Field Hockey Team without prior experience of playing the game before. She loved the beach, scary movies, and the color purple. Makenna loved the season of fall, comfort food, and cheering on her Philadelphia Eagles. A two-time cancer survivor, she never let her illness destroy her amazing and inspirational outlook on life. Makenna was a beautiful person inside and out.
Surviving along with her parents is her sister Kayla Massi; brother Kaden Massi; maternal grandmother Mary Durkalec; paternal grandmother Deborah Grillo; great grandparents James and Margaret Fiore; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins; and her beloved dog Santino.
Family, friends, and classmates are encouraged to attend a visitation on Wednesday October 3, 2018 from 4:30-6:45 PM at SunnyBrook Ballroom, 50 Sunnybrook Rd., Pottstown, PA 19464. A celebration of life will immediately follow at 7:00 PM. A viewing will be held Thursday October 4, 2018 at St. Aloysius Church in the Gathering Center, 223 Beech St, Pottstown, PA 19464 from 9:00-11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM. Burial will follow at Limerick Garden of Memories. Catagnus Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Inc., 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown in entrusted with arrangements.
