Marcia (Kurtz) Favinger, loving wife of Ron for 42 years, of Sanatoga, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, June 8 at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
She was born in Biloxi MS on September 27, 1946 to Mary (Moore) Kurtz of Pottstown and the late John Kurtz.
Marcia was a 1964 graduate of Pottsgrove High School, where she was drum majorette, an avid basketball player and homecoming queen. She continued her education at Thomas Jefferson School of Nursing, launching her career as a well loved nurse for 42 years. She started her career as office nurse to Dr. George Longacre and in 1981 became the nurse of her dreams in Labor and Delivery at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
Marcia’s loving and giving spirit not only touched the lives of all her family and friends, but also the lives of each and every patient she cared for. Doctors, co-workers, patients and administration loved her enthusiastic, energizing and sincere approach to nursing, winning her recognition, respect and awards for the person/nurse she was meant to be.
Along with her husband and mother, she is survived by her three daughters, Major Jennifer Martinez of Saint Louis, Jill Gillette, wife of Glen, of Sanatoga, and Diane Mower, wife of Brian, of Douglassville. She is also survived by her sister Diane Simmoneau, wife of Thomas, of Spring City, brother John Kurtz, husband to Cindi, of Bristow, VA, mother in law Sally Favinger, of Sanatoga and brother in law Paul Favinger, of Sanatoga, as well as her 7 loving grandchildren. She will be missed by all.
A memorial service for Marcia will be held at First Baptist Church, King and Charlotte Sts. in Pottstown, Saturday, June 12 at 9:30 am. Friends and family may call from 8:00-9:15 am.
