Pauline E. Woznicki, 83, longtime resident of Douglassville, PA, passed away suddenly on December 1, 2018.
Pauline was born on February 13, 1935 on the family farm in Deerfield, New York, the third daughter of the late Chester and Catherine (Krol) Poplasky. She worked on the family farm from a very young age and graduated in 1953 from Poland Central School, Herkimer County, New York. In her senior year, she was crowned Farm Queen of Herkimer County.
On October 8, 1955, she married her beloved husband Edward J. Woznicki in Newport, NY. They settled in Pennsylvania, residing 10 years in Aston, Delaware County, PA and for the last 52 years, in Douglassville, PA. Pauline was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Edward preceded her in death on February 4, 2018.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, Pauline was a member of Immaculate Conception BVM Church, Douglassville, having served in the church choir, Women’s Society, and quilting group. Throughout her life, she was devoted to volunteering and caring for others, whether it was ladling hot soup out of the back of her station wagon during the Agnes Flood, cooking at soup kitchens, caring for nursing home residents, or taking food to an ailing neighbor. She was a member of the Douglassville Women’s Club for many years. She especially loved cooking, sewing, bingo, her dog, planting flowers, and above all, her husband and family.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas (Julie) Woznicki, San Jose, CA and Mark Woznicki, Aptos, CA; four daughters, Paula (Dan) Pettit, Lewiston Woodville, NC; Kathryn (Greg) Saylor, Birdsboro, PA; Lisa (Craig) Rozycki, Robeson Township, PA; and Linda (Henry) Coyne, Royersford, PA; three brothers, Chester (Maryann) Poplaski, Poland, NY; James (Christine) Poplaski, Yakima, WA; and Thomas (Deborah), Poplasky, Canandaigua, NY; two sisters, Carol Francis and Jane Koscinski, Utica, NY; sister-in-law Elizabeth Ann Woznicki, Rehoboth, DE; brother-in-law Dominic Pugliese, Fort Washington, PA; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and many dear nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, brother and sister-in-law Francis and Wendellee Poplasky; sister and brother-in-law MaryAnn and Clement Lewandrowski; sister-in-law Geraldine Pugliese; and brothers-in-law Robert Woznicki, Leo Koscinski, and John Francis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, December 7th at 12:30 pm at Immaculate Conception Church, 905 Chestnut Street, Douglassville. Visitation will precede the mass from 11 am to 12:30 pm in the church narthex. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Pauline’s memory to the Immaculate Conception Church Memorial Fund, 905 Chestnut Street, Douglassville, PA 19518.
