Robert J. “Bob” Pichola, 82, husband of Maureen (Dapra) Pichola, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Spring Mill Senior Living in Phoenixville.
Born in Shamokin, Robert was the ninth child of the late Michael and Verna (Cervanick) Pichola.
Upon graduation from Shamokin High School, Bob enlisted in the United States Army and served from 1956-1961. He then attended Bloomsburg University and Bucknell University to prepare for a career as a guidance counselor at Owen J. Roberts High School. Bob was a member of the Birdsboro VFW Post 411 American Legion Post #311 of Stone Harbor, NJ. He was the founding member of the “Bucktown Beer Tasting Club”. Bob’s keen observation skills and decisiveness served him well as a little league baseball umpire and high school basketball referee. Also known as “The Woodchopper”, Bob spent his free time building custom wooden furniture, fishing, golfing, and watching his grandchildren perform in their sports and activities. Bob and his wife loved the beach, especially their home in Stone Harbor, and traveling with their group of friends.
Surviving along with his wife, Maureen, of 56 years, is his son John Pichola, husband of Jennifer (Jordan); daughter Jenifer Haines, wife of Dale; grandchildren Jason, Jake, and Matthew Pichola; and grandchildren Julia, Anthony, and Camille Haines. He is survived by many nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Thomas More RC Church (2101 Pottstown Pike, Pottstown, PA 19465) with burial following at Washington Memorial Chapel Cemetery in King of Prussia. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at the church from 10:00-11:00 AM.
