Ruth S. (Mitchell) Carter, 79, wife of the late Francis J. Carter, of Elverson, passed away on Wednesday at Manatawny Manor in Pottstown. Born in Phoenixville, she was a daughter of the late Naomi (Francis) Mitchell, and the late Chester Mitchell.
She was a 1949 graduate of Spring City High School, and also a graduate of the Providence Bible Institute in Rhode Island. In addition to being a homemaker, she had also been employed for many years in the food service industry by the Owen J. Roberts School District, and later on by the Marriott Corporation at their Morgantown area location. Ruth was also a long time member of the Vincent Baptist Church in Chester Springs, and the Bethesda Baptist Church in Pottstown.
Ruth is survived by her sons; Eric Carter, of Elverson, and Philip Carter, husband of Cheryl, of Parker Ford, her grandchildren; Joseph, Jessica, and Amanda, her sisters; Edith Guzman and Charlene Harrington, her brothers; Clarence Mitchell and Daniel Mitchell, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers; the late Chester Mitchell and the late William Lee Mitchell.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Service on Monday at 11:00 AM at Bethesda Baptist Church, 2140 Harmonyville Road, Pottstown, Pa., 19465, with Pastor Bill Wexler officiating, and to her Visitation on Monday morning from 9:30-10:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery, Pottstown.
