Stanley D. Plevyak, 89, of Reading, husband of the late Mary A. (Sostak) Plevyak, passed away on Saturday at St. Joseph Medical Center, Reading.
Born in Carbondale, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Lopatofsky) Plevyak.
Stanley was a US Army Sergeant during WWII veteran serving with the 86th Infantry Division and earning a Bronze Star. He worked for 27 years as a machinist at Tactair Fluid Controls in Bridgeport retiring in 1984. He was a member of the former St. Peter’s RC Church in Pottstown and Ringing Hill Fire Co.
He is survived by his daughter Deborah J. Sullivan, wife of Edward, of Reading; sons Stanley D. Plevyak Jr of Lake Wynonah and Matthew J. Plevyak of Tunkannock; sisters Sophia Roman, Anna Gadbow, Helen Derrick, Regina Hoffman, and Katherine Fisch; brother Edward and Paul Plevyak; 6 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Along with his wife and parents, he is predeceased by his son Gregory D. Plevyak, his sisters Mary Madges and Vera Madden; and his brothers Joseph and John Plevyak.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, 11:30AM at St. Aloysius RC Church, 223 Beech Street, Pottstown. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Pottstown. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00AM to 11:15AM at the church.
