Thomas M. (“Tom”) Miller, Sr. of Pottstown, Pa passed away Monday May 7 at the Pottstown Memorial Medical Center.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Dorothy H. (Ecker) Miller a resident of Manatawny Manor, Pottstown, Pa.
Born September 5, 1924 in Pottstown, Tom was the son of Howard A. and Mary Ellen (Yocum) Miller, Sr.
Mr. Miller grew up in Linfield, Pa and served in the U.S. Army in Burma during World War II. A union carpenter by trade, he worked for the Frank A. D’Lauro Company, a commercial construction company located in Philadelphia, as general manager for over thirty years. He later spent several years in a similar capacity with Leonard H. Dagit, Inc. of Philadelphia. At the age of 52 he started T. Miller, Inc. a custom home building and remodeling business where he finished his career doing what he loved. In his later years, Tom ran a tool sharpening business from his home in Sanatoga.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and the Phillies. He was also an avid bowler and woodworker, spending countless hours in his beloved shop. Tom was formerly a member of the Lower Pottsgrove Lions Club and the Pottsgrove Boosters Club. A child of the Great Depression, he will be remembered for his ingenuity, resourcefulness and generosity and as a devoted, loving husband and father.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Miller is survived by his three children, Roxanne Voss, wife of Robert Voss, Bluffton, SC; Dori Doukas, wife of Thomas Doukas, Pottstown, PA; and Tom, Jr., husband of Maria Miller, Spring City, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lindsey Sanders, wife of Dan Sanders; Katie Voss; Nicole Holowaty, wife of Jeff Holowaty; Brian Doukas; Abbe Miller and Eric Miller and three great grandchildren, Ciera Doukas and Ashley and Alexis Holowaty. He is also survived by two brothers, Robert W. Miller and John I. Miller. He was predeceased by one brother, Howard A. Miller, Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Adamski.
A memorial service will be held at the Catagnus Funeral Home, 329 N. Lewis Road, Royersford, PA on Thursday, May 10 at 10:30 a.m. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
